    It is not enough for you to have a good research idea and plan for further study. You need to prepare a proposal that is capable of convincing other academicians and your committee members that your study is valuable for the community. A dissertation is a big project that involves investment of resources including time, money and/or techniques. So, before the funders and parties involved invest in to your research, you are required to do two things:
    1. Understand why the target people should be interested in your research and strive to gather their interest.
    2. Familiarize with the concerned literature and reassure your funders with the adequate background that your research idea is viable.
